A very significant step forward. Saw Dr Desmond Yip, medical oncologist. He was pleased with my progress and recovery from surgery. The second phase of chemotherapy will commence next Wed 5 March at the Zita Mary Clinic. He divulged some of the details from the pathology report after surgery. The tumor size was quite small at 2.5 x 1cm, but the spread of the cancer into adjoining lymph glands was extensive, with up to 13 nodes involved!!! What counts is that the surgeons felt that they had got out all the affected areas and a good margin around it. Phase 2 chemo is designed to knock out any mini outposts that may have escaped detection. I feel better each day. Managed a 10km walk this morning. Received Rev Colin Bradford from the North Belconnen Uniting Church as a visitor. Yesterday received magnificent floral arrangement from Brian & Marilyn Carle. Keep on cruzin....PSD
A blog of my encounter firstly with gastro oesophageal cancer and later with cancer at the pyloric end of the stomach. Blog started 13 October 2007.

Hi Pa,
Great news the tumour was so small and they managed to cut it all out! Another round of chemo will be good to tidy up any outliers, and then we can congratulate you as a "medical sucess"!
