Everolimus clinical trial begins

So, the dice have rolled, I have been accepted for the Everolimus clinical trial and have yesterday taken the first two tablets. 2/3 chance of getting the hard drug as opposed to the placebo. They are inocuous looking white pills 5mg each...and are not marked placebo or drug!!! I have heard that in the US where the drug is in use they are $300 a pop!
So far I have had no real reaction to taking the pills...certainly nothing unpleasant. It can only be if I have strong adverse side effects that I might be able to guess that I have the drug rather than the placebo...if I have no bad side effects then I could have either.
Certainly the past two weeks have been dreadfully unpleasant with a daily cycle of stomach bloating, ache & discomfort, only relieved by vomiting. It feels as though it is a purely mechanical problem. The stomach fills and then at a critical point it triggers a reaction to vomit, empty and clear out.
As of yesterday I finally 'bit the bullet' ..excuse the pun, and have given up 60 years of eating habits to switch to blended foods only. As far as possible the only foods I am taking infrom now on will be liquid or have gone through the blender or will be naturally squashy soft. No more biting & chewing for me!!! Lots of soups, shakes, canned beans & spaghetti, pureed fruit, chocolate, ice cream, yoghurt, porridge and all at the highest calorie level possible.
See Dr Andrew Tomson today to talk about my stent.
