Happy 62nd birthday

So yesterday was my 62nd birthday, and what a day it turned out to be. The day was always going to be big because it was my daughter Juliet's day to be conferred with her degree of Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Canberra. She has achieved this after years of part time study. The ceremony was held in the Great Hall of Parliament House with full academic pomp and circumstance. That took up the entire morning. Juliet and boyfriend, along with Lynne and I, then went off for a celebratory lunch at nearby Kingston. That is where the big birthday surprise was sprung by my children Jeremy and Juliet, who together orchestrated a rendezvous with Michael Milton and his wife Penni and daughter Matilda.

Michael is an Australian paralympic champion cyclist and skier, his story is on the web at http://www.michaelmilton.com/. He was quickly a focus of my attention after I was diagnosed because of his recent successful treatment for oesophageal cancer. So to be actually meeting and dining with him was a remarkable boost to my morale. He and his wife and child were wondeful company.
The day then unfolded with a non stop round of phone calls which left me rather exhausted by the end of it all. Thanks to all for birthday wishes.

Lunch was great. You should post the photo that was taken of you + Michael on the day!
