It is nearly three weeks since surgery and 10 days at home. I am recovering well, with noticable improvement every day. This morning I went for a comfortable 40 minute walk, including some litter picking on the way. [Some people walk the dog, I walk a litter bag to try a clean the place up a bit]
Yesterday was a huge step forward when I drove my car across to The Canberra Hospital [20km] and revisited Ward 10A; Max and Josef still there from my stay. Josef was asleep and Max was about to get wheeled outside by his daughters for some fresh air and sun. Also visited Doug Fry in ward 9A, Doug is a friend from Customs Joggers who had a stroke several weeks ago, he is recovering well.
Then drove up to Regatta Point to participate in the weekly Customs Joggers 5km lunchtime jogging event. There were quite a few surprised faces to see me back on deck so soon! There were farewell drinks for my best friend Rick Hatcher, who leaves soon to live in Evans Head.

I continue to get messages of support from friends, neighbours and peers. A special word of thanks is due to The Cancer Council volunteer Marion [stomach cancer] who has rung in regularly to offer me encouragement from her farm near Orange, NSW.
A blog of my encounter firstly with gastro oesophageal cancer and later with cancer at the pyloric end of the stomach. Blog started 13 October 2007.
