Greetings all,
Lynne & I are back in Canberra after a very successful two week motoring safari to northern NSW and Brisbane...very much in the footsteps of the one we did this time last year, and hopefully will do next year. We got to stay with friend Rick Hatcher in Evans Head and then in Brisbane for one week for Ron Archer's 90th birthday. We drove back the inland way, staying at Goondiwindi, Moree and then Orange. 2800km in total. Good weather; car & body performed OK except for a painful backache the last two nights!!
Now that we are back it is time to get down to the serious business of what to do next about my cancer recurrence. The PET scan done in Sydney confirmed the presence of a 3cm cancerous node in the hepatic portal region. Previous gastroscopy and pathology confirmed cancer in the pyloric region of the stomach.
The jury is still out on what my next course of action should be. On Thursday we go to see the oncologist Dr Desmond Yip and his expertise will of course be in the field of chemotherapy. It was rather successful in attacking my first round of cancer, so it may work again this time...perhaps with different drugs and regimes.
The surgeon, Dr Mosse, is not sure whether surgery will be of any benefit, but he is waiting to talk with his peers. Radiation is also a possibility. I am open to any suggestions.
So, I am feeling OK. Eating, digestion and energy levels are good. Indeed, some of my bad symptoms from a few months ago have mysteriously vanished, in particular the waking headaches that I was experiencing nearly every day have evaporated. Reflux has been minimal, and rather linked to too much fatty foods too late in the evening. Now I am going for the main meal of the day at lunch time. Main complaints now are a very dry mouth during the night and a tendency to cramp up in legs , hands.
While continuing my research into local history I was very impressed by the full column adverts for Holloways Pills & Ointment which appeared in the Queanbeyan Age newspaper of 1866; they were touted as a cure all for illnesses & ailments, including tumors. The special cures for the stomach were a delight to read!!! I must get some for my shelf and rectify my evil.
So, thats all for now, will post again next week.
Bye for now.

Peter, I am not sure about the Holloway pills you have found. I suspect that the reason for the demise of the company is that someone may have been instrumental in pointing out that they did not - as advertised work as wwell as advertised.
I look forward to hearing about how your illness is progressing - mine of course is on a very different course - mainly down hill I am afraid. I really wish I still had the power of the legs to do the sort of walking you are doing. It would be great.
Let's hear from you when you have seen Desmond and what he recommends.
