Hi folks,
It seems that the way I have set up this blog to moderate comments results in Bad requests that are malformed or illegal!!! when I try to get them published. What a fascinating turn of phrase, which certainly has sinister overtones when applied to a cancer blog!! All comments so far have been friendly and inocuous, so I will try to reset this function. Maybe if I smoked pot to ease cancer symptoms I would become malformed AND illegal.
Anyway, I have thankfully got the pertinent Garpet comment up on the board, and thank you to Marg Colls & Rachel & Kevin for their comments.
My internal malformation is rather an unusual case, with cancer both in the pyloric region of the stomach and in the hepatic portal lymph nodes. In a nutshell Dr Yip oncologist said yesterday that second round chemotherapy offered little prospect of recovery or relief; surgery was deemed to be risky and problematic. The last card in the deck is radiation, which will be checked out with a specialist sometime soon. My blood count from Tuesday showed red blood cells and haemoglobin just below the normal range...not sure what that is all about. Basically, my prospects are not bright, so we will be making hay while the sun shines.
Meanwhile I feel good, relaxed and with minimal complaints. Today was perfect for a 1 hour walk in the frost before breakfast, then a 5km shuffle jog around the lake at lunchtime. On Wed I walked (4h) with neighbour Reg to the top of Mt Taylor (855m), a climb of 150m, with stunning views of Canberra. Today visited a very dear friend in her last days at the ACT Hospice; she has gone downhill very quickly. Another close friend died unexpectedly in his sleep on Wednesday...quite a week!!
While I have got the ticker to still do it, Lynne & I will be off to Melbourne very soon to spend a week near our darling first grandchild Finn. Our daughter Juliet was in Canberra for one night with work, so we caught up over dinner. Saw the Chinese movie Red Cliff with our new exotic Chinese neighbour Mai.. I won two tickets in a Canberra Times competition. A real epic.. fabulous. Thats all for now folks, it has been a big day and I will settle back to watch some Tour de France.
