I am now into the second week of the second cycle of chemotherapy, so in about a month I will be through this first phase. My major side effects continue as before...stomach ache and red blotches on hands and feet. There is a vague brown, yellow, purple tinge across all my body now, I certainly feel very 'chemical'. Today though the stomach ache was really quite gone; Lynne and I enjoyed a big breakfast on the back patio at Cafe MoMo in Bruce. I tackled with gusto a full plate of bacon, eggs, toast, sausage, hash browns and tomatoes...obviously nothing wrong with my appetite or ability to eat!!! That filled us up for the day. This evening I enjoyed beer and nibbles with Rick..just two light beers for me, then Birell non-alcoholic beer, which is quite palatable.
I reflected on the fickle nature of the human mind [especially mine!!]; we have got some problems in relation to stormwater drainage around the house, with some minor flooding under the floor area. All this sent me into a state of anxiety such that at times I actually forgot that I had cancer!! I get worried about some minor flooding, yet on the news are images of entire houses being swept away by raging flood waters in PNG!!! I feel I have got through that anxiety now, and of course will be calling in the plumbers tomorrow...the house has been standing for 35 years and I dont think I have ever had a full check of the drains. I t probably pays to have drains and stomachs routinely checked!! I was struck be the similarity between stormwater drains and the human intestines!!
A blog of my encounter firstly with gastro oesophageal cancer and later with cancer at the pyloric end of the stomach. Blog started 13 October 2007.
